Inception and Development
Infant Jesus Church at Vijayapura was a substation of St Jude’s Church, Karahalli. As this station was about 20 kms away from the parish, the faithful of the locality longed for a Church in their own village. Their desire was fulfilled when, the Claretians bought a piece of land 1.5 kms away from Vijayapura town, built a Church under the initiatives of Fr. Chacko Kelamparampil. The Church was blessed and dedicated on 21 April 1996.

Pastoral Ministry:
On 1 June 1998, Infant Jesus Church was bifurcated from the Karahalli parish and was erected as a new Parish. The Archbishop of Bangalore entrusted the new parish to the Claretians. The Parish has five substations – Devanahalli, Budhikere, Jangamkotte, Sulebele and Sandanahalli. Regular spiritual activities take place in all these substations.

The Congregation of the Hospitaller Sisters of Mercy opened a community at Vijayapura in 1995 with the intention of opening a dispensary in the village. Over the years, the dispensary was transformed into a rehabilitation Centre for the alcoholics and drug addicts.
