Inception and Development
The long cherished dream of the Claretians in the North East to foster local vocations was fulfilled when St Claret Minor Seminary was opened in the year 1998 near St Michael’s Parish, Umsning, in the Ribhoi district of Meghalaya, 45 kms away from Shillong. The seminary is teeming with life, with the presence of students from different tribes of the Northeast. The building was constructed under the supervision of Fr. Mathew Ezholithakadiel.

Formation of Minor Seminarians
The seminary houses minor seminarians in three batches of which the senior batches of II and III years attend classes at St Michael’s Pre-university college, after a year of orientation course in the seminary itself. . The conducive atmosphere and the natural surroundings help in the students’ academic and prayer life. The seminary currently accomodates 40 students.
Integral formation of the Candidate and harmonious deveopment of the psycho-spiritual, physical, intellectual and moral conditions is what is aimed at in the initial level of formation.
Promoting vocation to the Congregation from the North East India, is one of the priorities of the House. The North East India consists 7 states of the country .
