Inception and Development
St Claret Parish, Phramer is the first parish in the Archdiocese of Shillong erected under the patronage of St Antony Mary Claret. It is situated 85 kms., away from Shillong. The parish was opened on 9 February 2003 by Most Rev. Dr. Dominic Jala, Archbishop of Shillong. It was bifurcated from the Parish of Jowai, in the Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. The mission has been pioneered by Fr. Jose Vengathanam. The Centre has a kindergarten School and a boarding for the kids. The Centre is in its blooming stage. |
Pastoral Ministry
St Claret Parish, Phramer extends to 17 villages covering 20 sq. kilometers, with a catholic population of 3000. Apart from the regular pastoral activites, the missionaries are activitely involved in various village development activities. The Holy Spirit Sisters will join the Mission from the beginning of the year 2006.

Educational Apostolate
Education is one of the main apostlates of the mission. The Centre has a kindergarten School and a boarding for kids. There are now about 150 students in the school, which is in its beginning stages of development. And there are also 610 students studying in the 10 rural village schools run by the missionaries. Organizing the villages communities, and building up certain essential structures like School, boardings, dispensary and parish church are some of the priorities of the Mission.
