Inception and Development
Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh is one of the economically backward areas of the state. The large farming community in the area depends heavily on rains for their cultivation. Rain gods have not been merciful to the people here in the recent years. In 1999 the bishop has entrusted Kodumuru parish to the care of the Missionaries and Fr. Mathew Kottayil was appointed the priest-in-charge.

Pastoral Ministry
Staying in a rented house in Kurnool from the year 2000 the missionaries concentrated on pastoral and social works at Kodumur. After constructing a temporary shelter the missionaries moved into Kodumur village in 2003 and are making their presence felt through various developmental activities. Kodumuru has five established Catholic communities: Salkapuram, K. Nagalapuram, Penchikilapadu, Buddiolampadu and PeddThe mission area entrusted to the Claretians consists of six mandals. The area has a total population of about 1,40,000 people but the Christian population is very nominal.akotla. The Centre has 11 villages where Catholics are

present.The Missionaries have identified the urgent needs of providing education facilities, healthcare, sanitation, family welfare programs and are striving every way possible to attend to these various needs. Preparations are now underway to begin a school beside Hyderabad-Kunool Highway. |
