St Thomas Parish
In the year 1984 the Claretians were called upon to take care of the pastoral welfare of the migrant Syro-Malabar Catholic community in the Northern part of Bangalore city. St Thomas Church, Jalahalli is the response to that need. Beginning with a small group of families, the parish grew far and wide very fast in membership and in its various activities. By 2004 three independent parishes were formed. St Sebastian’s Church, Mathikere; Blessed Alphonsa’s Church, Sultanpalya and SS Joseph and Claret Church, Dasarahalli were all bifurcated gradually from St Thomas Church. There is also a sub-station, Mary Matha Church, Vijayanagar under St Sebastian’s Mathikere. Today St Thomas parish alone has 400 registered families. The typical Kerala temple-style architecture of the Church and the serene atmosphere of the surroundings make this an ideal place to encounter God.
St Claret High School
Began in the year 1988 with just 52 students and two teaching staff, St Claret High School now has the reputation of being the most sought-after school in the area. The 100 percent success of all the batches that passed out from the school from its first batch in 1997 is proof enough for its excellence in education. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are given adequate importance in the school. The school now has 2100 students and 54 teaching staff.
