Inception and Development
Claret Bhavan has served the Congregation as the Novitiate House of the Indian Claretians ever since the land was bought from the Carmelite Fathers and a few others in 1972. Some of the Sri Lankan Claretians too did their Novitiate here. The Novitiate house began in 1972 with Fr. Dirnberger, regent Joseph Maniangattu and four novices - Anselmus S., Jose Mattappally, Jesu Ratnam and G. Lukas. Fr. Franx Xavier Dirnberger, a German Claretian priest landed in India in 1970 to take care of the establishment of the Congregation in India. He served as the Novice Master till the creation of the Independent Delegation of India and the Indo-Sri Lankan Mission in 1984. |
